Characteristics and Applications of Thrust Ball Bearings:
There are two types of planar thrust ball bearings: unidirectional and bidirectional. Unidirectional planar thrust ball bearings are equipped with steel balls between a set of raceway rings, with a contact angle of generally 90 °. They can only withstand unidirectional axial loads and are not suitable for high-speed rotation. This type of bearing can be separated into three pieces, commonly known as three clip bearings, with both washers having arc-shaped deep grooves for ball rolling.
Bidirectional thrust ball bearings have a middle ring and two outer rings installed on the shaft, with steel balls added between the middle ring and the outer ring to withstand bidirectional axial loads.
The outer ring of the flat thrust ball bearing has flat seat type, self-aligning seat type, and seat type with self-aligning washer. The retaining frame of unidirectional and bidirectional thrust ball bearings is generally formed by stamping steel plates.
Other special types include thrust self-aligning roller bearings, bi-directional thrust angular contact ball bearings, thrust needle roller bearings, thrust cylindrical roller bearings, etc.
